Hi, whoever is reading this! My name is Megan. I'm a 30-something year old woman from California. My hobbies include video games, reading, and writing. It's been over 10 years since I last made a website, so I'm rusty. But back in the old internet days, I was active on Xanga (blogging website) and Myspace. It was common to actually customize your spaces. And fun! But then Facebook came along and everyone thought it was ~so much better~ than Myspace so I was forced to migrate there. Where they allowed no customization options at all. Which pissed me off. And it quickly became the norm. Which pissed me off even more. And now social media sites are going to shit. Huzzah!
Fun Facts:
I collect dragon figurines.
One of my biggest interests is Pokemon- especially catching and collecting them. I probably have around 5k total at this point. You can go here to see some of them. I plan on adding more soon and organizing them by game once I figure out how to go about doing so.
My favorite video games other than Pokemon are Skyrim, Witcher 3, Stardew Valley, Spyro (first 3), Crash Bandicoot (2, 3, and CTR), Splatoon, Undertale, and Tetris.
I've won a few rounds of Tetris 99.
My favorite books include Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes, The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, The 10th Kingdom by Katheryn Wesley, Hunted by Darcy Coates, Nightlight: A Parody, and the Legends Trilogy by Marie Lu.
Another big interest of mine is Warrior Cats. So much, I've got a shrine about it.
My favorite bands are Oversense, Lord of the Lost, Rammstein, Nightwish, Imperial Age, and Powerwolf.
My favorite TV shows include Twin Peaks, Evil, and Ghosts (both US and UK versions).
I don't really watch movies but if I had to pick a favorite I'd go with Mean Girls. Lady and the Tramp is my favorite Disney movie.
I have a black cat named Trouble.
I write as a hobby under a pen name. I've never published anything aside from stuff on sites like Wattpad, and I haven't posted anything there in awhile. If that ever changes, I'll share it here. Maybe.
I've been trying to teach myself German on and off for many years now. It all started when Duolingo became a thing and I wanted to join in on the fun. But then Duolingo turned out being a shitty teacher so I quit. And years after, took it up again but with flashcards and websites. Then got tired and stopped. Then, started up again because my favorite band decided to start posting all their news in German. And then I got invested in this German soap opera, and became obsessed with a character from it. Right now, I can sometimes read simple sentences and I know a lot of words. But I can't speak it or understand anything without subtitles. Though to be fair, I have trouble understanding what people are saying in english half the time so there's that.
I tend to ramble sometimes.
Someone keeps setting off fireworks as I write this even though it's not a special holiday or anything. I find it very annoying. I hate loud noises in general tbh.
I also tend to complain a lot.
The only social media I use these days is Tumblr. My username there is yellowfang89. I used to go on Reddit until they killed third party apps. And then none of the alternatives stuck which is another reason why I went back to teaching myself German. What the fuck else am I to do on my work breaks? I got bored of reading.
Speaking of reading, I go through periods of time where I'll tear through, like, four books a week for months on end. And then go months and months and months not reading a thing. Usually during these periods I switch over to spending all my reading time playing video games instead.
Tying into that, I read over 120 books in 2020 because, COVID. The following year I only read 25.
I just realized I never listed my favorite animals; Hyenas, wolves, and goats.
Past strong interests include The Lion King, Harry Potter, dogs, Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction, Sword of Truth/Legend of the Seeker, My Little Pony, MBTI, and wrestling, in that order.
If you think the reason Harry Potter is on my "past" list instead of any current ones is due to JKR being a massive TERF, you are correct. Trans rights!
I actually still watch Beyond Belief, but only when my boyfriend and I get drunk.
